This Blog is specific about the laptop we received from one our Customers which is Dell Inspiron N5110.
It has been noted that a common issue on laptops with No display as it gets older or used for few years. Laptop switches on indicating HDD working and Caps Lock & Numlock is functioning without Display/blank display/dim display. This could be an issue with RAM, Display panel, Motherboard issues. There are options to fix these issues. Here are some steps to check on basic faults which are listed below.

→Display Cable, Connector
1. Faulty RAM - To check if the display issue is with RAM, disconnect the Laptop from Mains power supply and remove the battery. Open the back panel and locate the RAM module and remove it gently. Check if there are any moisture on it and clean using an eraser or IP solution.
If the RAM is clean place it again firmly and check to see if the display issue resolves and if this doesn’t then replace the RAM module. After replacing the RAM module too if the display is not working then check for other options.
2. Display issue - Check if the display panel is good visibly without any marks within and if the display cable is intact. Sometimes removing the display cable and fixing it resolves the display issues. Replacing the display panel if available to check if its related to Display panel.
3. On-board Graphics - If the display issues persist then On-board graphics will be often causing such issues. To resolve this issue first check to see if laptop working with External monitor. If this is working, then enter BIOS settings and check for Graphics Settings if On-board graphics can be disabled. If the laptop doesn’t have this option, then remove the mother Board and disable the On-board Graphics chip.
Fix Motherboard and power on the Laptop issue will be resolved. Now the display works with Intel Graphics. Finally update the BIOS and update the relevant drivers by visiting Manufacturers sites.
